How and when did the organization/ business get started?

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts in Ventura County, such as Post 1679 in Ventura (active for over 78 years as of 2024), were established by overseas combat veterans to foster camaraderie, support local service members, and honor the fallen. These posts grew out of the national VFW movement that started in 1899 to support wounded and sick veterans
